A Dream Page

I had a dream..........I had a dream and it was soooo real it was unreal if you get my drift! LOL

(I've been having real unreal dreams all my life....but this one was a cut above the norm!)

It's been playing on my mind for some months bringing me comfort and consternation in equal measure!
I could not hold back anymore and I had to get this out and onto a page.

This is the journal page that was sitting on my WOYWW desk the other day...
...I eventually plucked up courage to write on it and yep I knew I was right...
...I should not have bothered.....I hated it!!! LOL

So just as I was sinking into a pit of despair plan B took over and I used my favourite way of adding words to tags and ATC's.....yep word fragments made with my Studio G stamps! My writing is still there underneath but it just adds to the layers ;)

Yes, yes, YES :)
(Said in my best Meg Ryan voice....or is that too much information! LOL)
Now it works for me ;)

The background was a mixture of gesso, neocolours, india inks and sprays and the stamps are a very eclectic mixture of Paperartsy, T!m, Artistic Stamper, Craft Stamper freebie, Chocolate Baroque, Studio G, QVC job lot from years ago, Inkylicious and some of my own.....it took me ages to search out the wording stamps from here there and everywhere!!

The basic page was created using a song as my inspiration that has been playing on a loop inside my head that accompanies the dream...one of my all time favs...but which one?
The clues are there ;)

OMG!! How fitting that she was singing this in a bed rather like mine....to a man who rather had a look of Pip! Oooh er.......SPOOKY!!!
Except that in my dream me and the dear departed DH were rather more......urm....how can I put this?.....Rather more active!!! ROFL

Hope you liked....I did..........happy stamping/journaling ;)

P.S. Expect to see more journal pages that use stamps to echo a song here in the future...
...I like the way this panned out and I've got hundreds of songs that are my all time favourites HOL ;)

My little Dayream

I'm in shock and sad today.
I've just found out Davy Jones died from a heart attack.
Always dreamed I'd bump into him one day and he would fall madly in love with me.....his sister lived in the same town I did at the time so it did not seem beyond the realms of possibility!!! LOL

The things you dream when you are young!

Suffice to say my band of choice back then was the Monkees...used to buy their monthly fan magazine too......still got some of them all these years later.......sad or what?!

Travel for The Artistic Stamper

Thanks for all the "Hearts" created for last months challenge, some were vintage, some cute, some arty :)
So..... how do you feel about this one then?
"Travel"
That's the challenge for March over at The Artistic Stamper Creative Team ;)

I made a card and added a separate challenge for myself to use just one background, one sentiment and one focal image stamp.

I stamped the cycling image from the "Open Road" plate in Versafine black onto some card that had been spritzed with Distress Ink faded jeans and spiced marmalade and cut it into six segments and layered these onto some card that had been coloured with Distress Ink spiced marmalade.

The graph paper background was stamped across the card in Distress weathered wood and the focal image pieces reassembled on top.
The sentiment was added using Adirondack pigment ink in sail boat blue
and after tearing the edges was coloured with a touch of both faded jeans and vintage photo Distress Ink.

It's a pretty simple card....somedays it's all we have time for...right? ;)

So come and join us and make something for the challenge....it does not have to be complicated as you tell from mine!!! LOL

You really must take a look at the "Travel" creations the rest of the team have made and here are the DT member links for you.

So don't forget.............the monthly challenge is "Travel"
The rules are simple... all you need to do is make a piece of art, be it a card, ATC, wall art, altered art, scrapling ;)... just remember that it must include some rubber stamping and the theme... and... if you use Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry you will be entered into the draw twice! The prize is £15 worth of stamps from the Artistic Stamper shop... along with the KlingOn to mount them onto.
I hope you get chance to play at the challenge... it is open until March 31st and the winner will be chosen by Random.org shortly after :)

Thanks for looking and happy stamping

WOYWW The return!!!

Hiya WOYWW'ers and grand leader Julia!
It's been such a long time to be AWOL but today I'm back.
(Reason? No enthusiasm for anything basically but I'm working on it ;) !)

I've moved the table to the corner behind the door so that at least when I'm looking into the room from outside (or guests pass by!) the mess isn't immediately obvious!!!

I may as well sock you in the eye now with the disaaaaaaaaster area that is my dining table hidden behind the door!! HOL

The pink tape runner was purchased recently after reading the revue that Hels did...I likey ;)

Stamps (piles of them) waiting inspiration for some DT work at The Artistic Stamper (the new monthly challenge is up tomorrow 1st March so do come back for that.

And my A5 journal open at a page in progress.....well it is sort of finished I only have some writing to add.....except I am scared to write on it and spoil the darn thing!!! ROFL

Thanks for looking......I'll try not to be away so long again!

Just Saying!

There is no justice in this world if Eddie the Eagle Edwards does not go through to the final at Dance for Sport Relief tonight.
xoxo Sioux

EDIT!!! Yeh! Thank You UK for doing the right thing......Eddie is through :) :) :)

The colour purple at Stampotique!

Apart from the Hallowe'en season I'm not one for much in the way of the colour purple!
But that is one of the colours in the colour challenge over at Stampotique this time.
Purple/Pink with Black it is then ;)

I've done another page in my small journal as this phrase popped in my head (along with another stanza that will go on the facing page) the other day...
...and you know how it is.....you just have to get it out.......get it on the page and then you can try to move on...
...well at least I do!!! LOL

I used the fabby Clover head along with the fabby medium sized bee by Jo Capper-Sandon.
India inked background and hand drawn words using black Sharpie pen and the best white ink I have come across to date......Bombay white india ink available here.

Hope you like....it worked for me! HOL

Hole in my Heart

Another journal page to share today.
I've used some of those inks I got...liking them a lot! The heart is Distress crackled ;)

Also I've used my latest attempt at carving my own stamps...

...a tyre tread effect in the background.
I'm entering this in Gingersnaps Chestnut Theme "Words of Wisdom"....
...there are plenty of words on it....whether they are words of wisdom or not is another matter! ROFL

The teal coloured ones round the heart read...
"There's a hole in my heart where dreams once lay" and "We will always have Paris"

Thanks for looking

A date with Destiny!

So you saw yesterday's T!m inspired tag for 12 tags of 2012?

I then made a journal page for it to sit on and as you can see I'm still trying to "get over" deal with the death of my DH....some days it just hits you unexpected....like when I had a bit of a weep when my financial adviser was round on Thursday to get me a better mortgage deal sorted out...all because....wait for it....
...we were talking about him and Pip sharing the same barber!!!
I mean what ever is it?! LOL

Anyway I felt the need to express some crappy feelings on this page.....did not want to use much in the way of my own writing as a focal point so made word fragments out of a number of T!m sentiment stamps...must try and remember to do that again 'cos I like it!

I'm linking this to Linda's Grungy Monday for this week where Simon Says Stamp are sponsoring a prize of $25.00...

...I did not like Valentines day at all this year for some reason! Was never a big issue when Pip was alive so why it became an issue on Tuesday is any ones guess!!! LOL

Also managing to link this to Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge where anything goes.... where again Simon Says Stamp are generously sponsoring a prize to the tune of $50.00 :)

Thanks for looking

P.S. Want to know what the wording round the skellibob is?
Promise not to get all concerned for me?

You have to say yes before you read on........

I just needed to write "Why did you have to die? Why did you have to die and leave me on my own? Why are some days so hard?

I should have added
"Why did you come back a fortnight later and take the bloody cat with you as well"
...............but I didn't!!! LOL
For those of you new here....yes, unbelievable but true.....our beloved cat died a fortnight to the day after Pip......within minutes of the exact time too......it was scary at the time.

Not Quite T!m's 2012 Tag!

In a way I'm somewhat relieved T!m has called it a day on the 12 Tags of Christmas....it can be very hard to fit in playing along at that time of year...
...especially for 12 continuous days...Fun but tricky...
...(Yes I know he kept it open till the end of the month but I'm a sort of do it all in one go or it never will get finished sort of gal!!!)...
...even I can manage that surely!!! LOL
So....I liked the cute Feb tag of T!M's but it was not quite what I wanted to express on mine....and seeing as I did not have the honeycomb paper either it seemed pointless trying to match it....but it gave me the inspiration for this...

Still cute in my eyes but I took it one step further and made an art journal page for it!

By the way The Artistic Stamper has some Honeycomb Paper in stock here.

I have not quite finished the page so I'll post that up tomorrow. ;) It's turned it from cute to personal and quite dark....just to warn you! LOL

The tag was cut with the tag die from a cardboard envelope that some new stamps arrived in the other day and embossed (it's nice to save the planet even in a small way)...then I swiped the white dabber over and coloured as per T!m's stamped one. The wording is cut from T!m's letter dies using both positive and negative letters and the butterfly is a Papertrey die all glittered up and with black enamel accent dots for the body.

Thanks for looking.....see you tomorrow? ;)

She stings like a bee!

I started this page on Sunday but did not quite know where I was going with it until inspiration hit me at 3 p.m. today! Only problem is that at 3 p.m. today I was at work and so I was dying to get home to finish it!!! LOL

The background used some of my new inks and a crafters workshop template with dimensional paste.....the lady is one of my own digital amalgamations printed out and stuck down with some T!m price tickets for shoes....the large bee is a T!m stamp and the little bees are from Papertrey.....bet they would be a bit surprised to see it used on a page like this!!! LOL The flower is my own hand carved one that I overpainted with Adirondack Acrylics.

If I do say so myself.....'cos Pip's not here to boost my spirits!....this is the best thing I've done in a long while....I even like it!!!! HOL

The inspiration came when I remembered that Ricky Martin song "She Bangs" (what does that mean exactly or should I not be asking!!! ROFL) How I love that song....and what a pity RM is lost to all woman kind!

Thanks for looking
xoxo Sioux
P.S. I'm now afraid that this will have used up any creative juices for the next few weeks!!!! :)

I need love...

In my small art journal this time to join in with Hels at The Sunday Stamper ;)
The theme being "Love".

There is something not quite right with this page...I think it might need a bit more re-working...like colouring over the crappy writing!!! LOL!!
All stamps T!m...background coloured with neo colour and I've used my new inks to write with.

Colour, colour, colour!

Remember how little I bought at the craft show last week?
I made up for it on line instead Thursday and it came yesterday!!!
You cannot fault Artifolk for their delivery ;)
I wanted to get some different inks...more colourful....if they had been at the show I would have bought them!
I want to try other ways of creating art and whilst I love the vibrant colours of Dylusions I just cannot afford to buy them......these inks are 30ml bottles...that's twice as big as a Distress reInker bottle and about half the price!!!

Now I know they won't react the same as Distress and for all I know will not be anything like Dylusions but it's my way of obtaining an affordable colour hit!!!
Also some pens for the journaling and some neo-colours to fill a little gap in my palette ;)

I've already mixed the orange ink with a bit of water in a mini-mister and spritzed to see what happens...
...and put a bit of the purple and ochre on a craft sheet and spritzed with water...
...the small oblong with the writing on is the first impression and yes they do turn a bit muddy the more impressions you try but I like the effect...
...although I have to say I do intend to write with them more then anything else:)
Will my journaling improve?
Who knows!!! HOL

CASE at Stampotique

I'm not one for casing if I can help it but that is just what the Stampotique challenge asks for so I chose to case this lovely page from the fabulous Gez!
I knew I wanted to try to capture the lovely colours used (not quite managed that I fear!) and the word fragments (some Stampotique the rest hand written) and used my gorgeous alpine maiden (at least that is what I call her!)

The wording reads "In my soul I know there is spirit, beauty and creativity. It's just a pity that some days I find it hard to believe!"
(I don't know about you but since Blogger has had yet another change I cannot enlarge photo's to really see the gorgeous art work people make and that includes being able to read stuff on pages like mine!)

Thank you so much for the inspiration Gez....I enjoyed having a play...I'm finding creating a real struggle at the mo but this has made me feel heaps better ;)
Thanks for looking

P.S. Can't see a link to enter this at the moment....will get back to it later! All linked now ;)

A few goodies!

I expect some of you are wondering what I spent my hard earned money on at the show on Saturday!
Well the answer is.....Not A Lot!!! LOL
But here it is anyway.
I went with 3 friends this time and we took the "Knitting with Wire" workshop and made a bracelet each and got to keep the spool of wire we used (at the top of the picture)

...you can add in beads as you knit but to save time we just made plain ones...
...3 of us were unsure if we could even remember how to knit!!!! ROFL

To be frank there was not a lot that floated my boat although we had a great day out and shared a fab picnic in the car... before going back into the show for more browsing.
Yeh, I know, we live sophisticated lives don't we! LOL

Anyways.....I bought two wood mounted stamps from a bargain box (£2.00 each) particularly like the three rows of lines for journaling me thinks ;)
Some fancy charms and a stylish broach finding...
...and the bezels for jewellery/steampunky type art if I ever get round to using them!

You all know what it's like all you fellow Scanners! ROFL

February Journal Page

So January came and went!
Here are the finished pages for the month...
...don't look too closely 'cos there is nothing interesting believe me!!!

February pages made and started...

...close up of the fold out flap for extra space...

...I know it's only part of the T!m saying...and his ends more positively...
...but when I made this it fitted my mood much better ;)! LOL

Thanks for looking...I'm of to link it to Kate's 365 366 (I keep forgetting it's a leap year! Not that it makes any difference to me!) journal.....

Love Me Do! for The Artistic Stamper

Great to see all those "Vintage" lovelies created for last months challenge :)
So..... February brings us
"HEARTS"
for the monthly challenge over at The Artistic Stamper Creative Team ;)

This little thought popped in my brain as soon as I saw the theme!
Well It's about time something popped in my brain...
...bit lacking on the creative front round here just lately!

Anyways, I went with an ATC and already had the faux wood effect background made using Distress Ink pine needles and peeled paint and decided to stamp the man from Men's plate 1 onto white card and colour the background to blend in 'cos that looks a bit like wood too

(I know wood is not really green but you get my drift!? LOL)

I cut an extra little square piece of white card to cover the words as I wanted to change it up a bit and stuck it down and coloured it with a little Distress Ink worn lipstick and attached a shrunk plastic heart from Stitchels curly dot plate that had been coloured with a copic marker.

The lady from Twenties 1 plate was stamped with Adirondack wild plum pigment ink in wild plum onto piece of paper that had been coloured with Archival chrome yellow then cut out.

The word LOVE from journaling words was stamped in Archival black and the heart in Distress aged mahogany before handwriting the words onto a spare piece of chrome yellow coloured card.

You really must take a look at the "Heart" creations the rest of the team have made and here are the DT member links for you.

So don't forget.............the monthly challenge is "Hearts"
The rules are simple... all you need to do is make a piece of art, be it a card, ATC, wall art, altered art, scrapling ;)... just remember that it must include some rubber stamping and the theme... and... if you use Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry you will be entered into the draw twice! The prize is £15 worth of stamps from the Artistic Stamper shop... along with the KlingOn to mount them onto.
I hope you get chance to play at the challenge... it is open until February 29th

(ooh! that means it's a leap year....perhaps I should pop the question to RA!!!! ROFL)

and the winner will be chosen by Random.org shortly after :)

Thanks for looking and happy stamping

Crafts for Crafters

So....anyone going to Craft 4 Crafters at Exeter Westpoint on Saturday?
I'm going ;)
Have been good and spent every weekend this month not going anywhere that involves the slightest chance of shopping LOL...
...'cos I find that just stepping outside my front door at the weekends invariably means that I end up spending money I have not got!!!
So indulge me on Saturday.....I just hope there is something that I really, really want when I get there.......or all that denial will have been in vain!!! HOL
Come back tomorrow for the new monthly Artistic Stamper challenge.....see you!

Breathe

I fell in love with this Hollies version of the song when it was released in 1974.
It still gives me goosebumps when I hear it :)

So here is my journal page.....not by any means fabulous but I'm just thankful I've managed to make something for no good reason than to make something!!! LOL

I wrote an affirmation in my 365 366 journal on Friday and it looks like it worked!!!
(I did not realise it was an affirmation at the time nor that anything would come of it!)

Wow! I could get all alternative if I'm not careful ;) LOL

I think I'm a Scanner!

I was at the doctors yet again this morning for my yearly diabetic tests and some more bloods!
There I was waiting to see the nurse and flicking through a magazine ("Red") browsing an article when a surge of bright white light ignited in my head!

I believe I am a Scanner!

This explains quite a lot...
...you don't know how frustrating and depressing it can be unless you share these feelings that include...

"I can never stick to anything."

"I know I should focus on one thing, but which one?"
"I lose interest in things I thought would interest me forever."

"I keep going off on another tangent."

"I get bored as soon as I know how to do something."

"I can't stand to do anything twice."

"I pull away from what I'm doing because I'm afraid I'll miss something better."

"I'm too busy, but when I do find time I can't remember what I wanted to do."
"I keep changing my mind about what I want to do and end up doing nothing."

I have made bold the phrases that are particularly relevant to me although all the rest are hanging around in the background most of the time.
This is a bit of a revelation and....I hope I'm not coming across as some sort of weirdo...but if I can find out how to break this or go with it which seems to be the answer in the little I read...
...perhaps I can start to concentrate on something or anything or everything LOL and...

..."Enjoy the Journey" !!!

(As you know who says ;))

Thanks for reading my strange post today...
...I don't think I have lost the plot, I believe I have found the plot today!!
xoxo Sioux

P.S. Then again it could just be because now my blood sugars are a bit low instead of being a bit high!!! LOL

Diet Watch Monday Returns!

Hi!
The last time I posted about my weight was 28th November and I just knew the next few weeks would not be conducive to sticking to the Dukan diet!!!!
I decided to take the que sera sera attitude! LOL

Two weekends away including my birthday...
...3 Christmas meals out...
...Christmas itself...
...and the New Year when I hosted a little get together with some close friends and we had cheese fondue....ooh er!!!!
I stuck to it pretty well during the week but come those outings I did not hold back! HOL
Soooo on 28th November I was 73 kilo and now...
(I don't know how the hell I've managed it 'cos I had to eat up stuff that was still in the fridge last week too)
today I'm...
...72 kilo!! :)

Vintage for The Artistic Stamper

Last months challenge was a popular one :)
I am so sorry I did not get to comment on many but my computer has been up the Swanee!!!

So.....this month's challenge is "Vintage" over at The Artistic Stamper Creative Team ;)
I made an ATC.
The design team were also asked to use Perfect Pearls Mists in our work as they are on special offer this month ;)

I sprayed my blank ATC with sour apple and a blank piece of card with mandarin Perfect Pearl mists and helped them to dry by using a heat tool.
The ATC blank then had Distress Ink scattered straw roughly sponged on and all the stamping was done in Archival directly on top.
Postcard in black, franked stamp in aquamarine (Ephemera 1 plate), crown in crimson (Crowning Glory) and swirl (Swirls, Splats and Dots A5) in coffee.
The butterfly (Insects and Butterflies 1) was stamped in coffee onto the mandarin coloured card twice and cut out.
I then stamped the butterfly directly on the ATC in black to get an image of  the feelers and then the two cut outs were glued on top.
The word fragments were computer generated and layered onto black card and the edges ages with brushed corduroy Distress Ink.

I love that the stamping....even though it was done on top of the mists.....still takes on the sheen and twinkle, but I find it almost impossible to show how gorgeous the effect is ;(
So if you would like to see what the effect is for real and fancy winning this ATC for your collection, please leave a comment and I will draw a name via Mr Random on January 8th.

You really must take a look at the "Vintage" creations the rest of the team have made and here are the DT member links for you.

So don't forget.............the monthly challenge is "Vintage"
The rules are simple... all you need to do is make a piece of art, be it a card, ATC, wall art, altered art, scrapling ;)... just remember that it must include some rubber stamping and the theme... and... if you use Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry you will be entered into the draw twice! The prize is £15 worth of stamps from the Artistic Stamper shop... along with the KlingOn to mount them onto.
I hope you get chance to play at the challenge... it is open until January 31st and the winner will be chosen by Random.org shortly after :)

Thanks for looking...
...HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)
and happy stamping.
xoxo Sioux
EDIT: The draw is closed to win the ATC.
Thanks to those who entered :)
