This was my place!

This used to be my place!

I don’t mean the little cottage in my junk journal, I mean here here…on Blogger!
Things happened, mainly Blogger not playing ball with my iPad and iPhone, but also relocating and then moving back to our original house in early 2019 after 2 years. I missed being in the place I love best, Brixham.
Obviously it’s now 2023 and four and a half years have passed…but I’m coming home, home to Blogger 😉
Things will be different as my art practice has evolved into much more than the stamping, although it won’t be abandoned altogether 😊.
I’ll be sharing an eclectic mix which hopefully won’t be too disjointed and always from an artistic view point.

xoxo Sioux

P.S. the little cottage journal page was done with water soluble neocolours II and pastels on brown wrapping paper. Based on a view from the “Café Cùil” near Carbost on Skye.
The colours on the hillside were gorgeous that day, with just the right light, although perhaps my iPhone didn’t quite capture what I saw.

If you are ever in the area it’s a funky place serving tasty food and drink.

Embrace serendipity!

If anyone is still popping by to check on me here I salute you!
Frustration abounds when using Blogger on an iPad or iPhone!!
So I haven't been using Blogger and have been using Facebook (which can also be annoying for different reasons) and Instagram in the main.

But they are not quite the same as good old Blogger.

I'm investigating the possibility of starting again.....if Safari allows me!
Please don't say download the Google Chrome app......have you seen the amount of problems that keep cropping up!!!!

Here is a bit of artistic creativity I've managed recently.
But once again good old Blogger is not playing because after adding the photo the page stopped scrolling! Luckily I already knew there was nothing left to edit below this so I'm going to carry on and publish....hang on after 4 minutes it seems to have kicked in and I can scroll again!!!
Heaven help me....oh wait a minute it's not scrolling right to the end!!

Don't know if I can persevere......will try Blogger on main mac computer and see what, if any, difference it makes.

You certainly have to embrace serendipity writing a simple blog post these days! ROFL

Inspiration Wednesday

Yep! I know it's Friday!
I've signed up for the new Inspiration Wednesday on-line event for 2015.
I used to like watching the video that Donna did.....such a lot of work and inspiration and free too...
...But I'm ashamed to say I never actually made an art page using the inspiration!!! LOL :)

I have just finished my art journal to join in.

Used some T!m fabric backed by canvas for some strength and perfect imperfect stitches to secure ;)

and an assortment of card stock that I would never use.......hopefully it won't matter too much that it's all sorts of colours.....I imagine it's all going to get covered up anyway with gesso and paints etc.!! :)

The cover is secured using an Accoutrement button from T!m.

Hope I can keep up with the inspiration that starts on Wednesday :)

Love Begins - A collaboration

My SF and I are so in tune with each other it is unbelievable.
We are both artistic, although he freely admits he leans towards the written word.

He wrote a poem to celebrate our meeting and love.......big sigh! ;)
This then inspired me to create a little art work as a backdrop to his beautiful words.

I could not resist the other week and bought myself yet another little journal book - a very lovely moleskin.

The landscape was created using Distress Inks....the mountains are simply some torn paper used to create a mask to smudge the inks over.
The trees and foliage are from Inkylicious and the wording was hand written with a calligraphy pen using Dylusions ink in melted chocolate (the ink is great for this purpose).

We are off to Exeter today to search for an engagement ring and to find out just what our ring sizes are!!!
So I hope you like this collaborative piece....the words are very special to us.
Lets hear it for SF please :)

P.S. I have a little something to share with you for The Artistic Stamper tomorrow.

How many Frogs?

I've made a journal page for the delightful Dawn's Journal Journey's challenge this month which is  "Quotes".

This quote has always made me smile.....more so just recently ;)) !!! ROFLIA

I created the frogs in my graphic programme and cut them out and attached to suited men ;)
Of course the only real Prince I could include had to be RA :)
Mmmmmm.

I'm meeting a guy on Saturday lunch for the first time....we talked on the phone the other day and he sounds nice....only lives in the next town and he is a couple years younger than me...
...oh er that's a little scary to me as I've always been attracted to older men but the older I get the less attractive that proposition is!! ROFLIA

Sounds like he might actually have time to go on dates if we hit it off too!!! LOL

Thanks for looking today.

Happy Escape!

I was thrilled to be a favourite for my tag in last weeks Stampotique challenge.....thanks so much. :)

I'm entering this new journal page in the Stampotique challenge this week (SDC 85) where the theme is "Whatever makes you happy"

I had a lucky escape Monday evening!
The rain was sheeting down and the wind was blowing a hooley here......and a tree came down in the lane leading up to the works unit. Apparently it's a bit of a miracle how it missed me on my way out, as one of the guys was literally just a minute (possibly even seconds) behind me in leaving and it was down by then!!! He had to get the lorry with it's lifting gear to shift it!
Fortunately I did not know anything about it until I came to work the morning after.............phew!

Obviously that guardian angel is saving me for better things!!! Like a good man...

..possibly even RA!! HOL ;)
So it makes me even more happy I'm alive at the moment :)
Thanks for looking.

P.S. I've got an Artistic Stamper piece lined up for Saturday...why not come back then? ;)

New Year - New Life!

Today is a new year.

Today I am looking forward and not looking back!

Time to grab life while I can.

Time to open my heart to what might be ahead.

I wish you all more happiness than sadness in 2013.

Take care and thank you for your entertaining comments throughout the year.
Hugs
xoxo Sioux

I'll leave you with this...I think I like it best of all the things I made this year because it says it all really....I need to have a brave heart and truly listen to what it is telling me! ;)

I saw this inspirational quote on Dyan Reaveley's blog a while back,

"If you don't like something - change it...

If you can't change it - change your attitude..!"

Here is to embracing change!
And lets not forget embracing a good man...
...whoever he may be! ROFL

Wanted!

Hi folks!

I had so much fun making this page....featuring 3 of my hottest male fantasies!! ROFL
Rufus, Richard and Luca (Inspector Montalbano)...and mystery man?...well one of these days I'm hoping he will turn into reality and will be "The one that I want"...I have to believe there is someone out there for me....I absolutely hate living on my own, I've come to realise I function better as part of a couple ;)
I made this at my weekend away with crafting friends Sue and Laura

We went to Jamie Oliver's in Bath on Friday for my birthday and crafted all day Saturday and Sunday morning too...we shared such a lot of wicked laughs and surprisingly I actually made a few things!!! My heart has just not been in crafting of late
Big hugs and thanks for sharing the weekend girls. :)

Breathing? Living?

I heard this quote on the radio and realised it's exactly how I feel quite a lot of the time lately!
Just knew I had to make a journal page for it then ;)

Sprayed Dylusions on the page in my Dyan journal and over stamped the images in Archival aquamarine to make a background using my  hand carved lady

small T!m skull and the large and small Happy word from the Hallowe'en T!m sets.
The scroll was added in Archival black and perfect pearls in blue and copper dusted over parts of it for a bit of a change....hope you can see the shimmer ;)

then faded jeans and vintage photo used to age around the edges.
As I've used quite a bit of blue on this I'm entering it in Hels Sunday Stamper this week which is to use blue ;) Thanks for the inspiration Hels :)

Touch me!

What can I say! ;)

This is in my very small journal and was inspired by one of my unreal real dreams the other night...
...and no I'm not that weird! There was not a skeleton fondling me!!!
It's quite a shocking experience to have such real and tactile dream's.
I was torn between not wanting it to end and wishing that it would!!!
Scary and sexy at the same time...yikes!!! LOL

I just know I must have been making some funny noises as I eventually snapped out of the dream!!! ROFL
Thanks for looking.

Brave Heart

I got my new Dylusions journal in the post yesterday.
Mmmm....I likey ;)

Love the inner envelope section...and the pages are a great weight too with proper sewn signatures ;)
So I just had to christen it didn't I? I decorated the inside front cover ;)

Red tissue paper and heart from the packaging it came in.

Stamped the tissue with Archival and an Artistic Stamper script and glued to the page (bit like T!ms October tag I've just noticed) except I used multi matte medium for that bit.....some paint dabbers in yellow, green and brown and highlighted some of the creases and edges with gold.

Various T!m die cut letters coated with black paint and glued on.
Think it makes a great cover and inspiration for filling all those lovely pages within :)

Sex Bomb!

Thought I would combine two extremes of inspiration in one piece.
The new skull stamp by T!m from the mini Hallowe'en set...could not wait to get my hands on that stamp...and of course Mr Grey Suit Guy...
...well, any man in a suit within reason come to that!!! ROFLIA;)
(not to mention Mr Grey himself!!!)
My heart and I will never be able to break free! ;)

Dream Big

There were some very arty entries in the "Splatters and Speckles" challenge last month :)
So..... would you like to play along with this one then?
"Natural World"
That's the challenge for October over at The Artistic Stamper Creative Team ;)
Make anything you like as long as it includes the theme of natural world.

I chose to make a journal page in my A5 size book and started by spritzing the page with Distress Inks in aged mahogany and faded jeans over gesso.

I stamped one of the flowers from botanical plate1 all around the edges in Archival coffee and then again randomly over the top with Archival black for a bit more definition.

The large letters were cut with the word play die from cardboard and coloured with black paint dabber and I added the calligraphic mat 13 randomly across the page with Archival aquamarine.

At this point I just knew the flutterbys would not show up if I stamped them direct on the page so chose to stamp them on card, colour and cut out.

I stamped a variety of flutterbys from the Insects and butterflies plate 1 plate in various Archival inks, aquamarine, coffee and black...and simply coloured each one with just one other colour of Distress Ink (wild honey, faded jeans, peeled paint and worn lipstick)...as you can see from the above picture this does give a nice variation in colour quite easily.

I did stamp each flutterby onto the page in Archival black simply to get a little definition and so allow the feelers to display well.......no point in trying to cut those out is there! LOL

I then made a sentiment up with the journaling mini words 1 and glued them to some black card with glossy accents and stuck them and the flutterbys to the page with it too.

You really must take a look at the "Natural World" creations the rest of the team have made and here are the DT member links for you.
Jennie and Louise.

So don't forget.............the monthly challenge is "Natural World"
The rules are simple... all you need to do is make a piece of art, be it a card, ATC, wall art, altered art, journal page ;)... just remember that it must include some rubber stamping and the theme... and... if you use Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry you will be entered into the draw twice! The prize is £15 worth of stamps from the Artistic Stamper shop... along with the KlingOn to mount them onto.
I hope you get chance to play at the challenge... it is open until October 31st and the winner will be chosen by Random.org shortly after :)

Thanks for looking and happy stamping

Weird Happy Heart? for SS

Oh dear!
I fear that Freud would have a field day with this...but it made me happy!!! LOL

I had a little splurge this week and bought two of the new T!m stamp sets....the skull is the larger one on the Apothacary plate.....I've got an idea for the smaller skull too that is on the mini Hallowe'en...can't wait to get started!!
This is in my A5 journal just so as you get an idea of size.
I have been waiting patiently ever since T!m revealed them....I know...weird!!!.......
but I could be doing much weirder things!!! ROFL ;)

As Hels said, it was sad to hear of Andy Williams passing....and additionally Herbert Lom...heavens I must have been a weird child I thought he was the bees knees...I suspect lots of kids would have been hiding behind the settee on seeing him in some of the movies he made.....I would not quite class him in the sex on legs category but there was definitely something about him!!! ;)
