Merry Christmas for SCD

Hi all! We are still making tags over at Something Completely Different and this prompt from Carol - "Merry Christmas" - had me singing this song....

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.
They know that Santa's on his way -
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And ev'rymother's child is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.
and so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times,
Many ways:
"Merry Christmas to you".

All the various words were stamped in one of three colours...Impress chocolate....Archival sepia or coffee with a couple stamped in Adirondack lettuce for a little contrast.
The background colour is DI wild honey and brushed corduroy inked on a sheet and sprayed with Perfect Pearls Pearl spray.....that is such a yummy combination I just had to do it again after I used it on my 9th tag of Christmas with T!m! :)
....stamped the circular motif on a piece of Crafty Individuals paper and mounted this on some tissue paper that had been stamped with an Artistic Stamper script stamp.

Head over to Something Completely Different to see what the fabulous teamies on the DT have made this week.
Hope to see you there! ;)

Thanks for looking.....and Happy Stamping! :)
xoxo Sioux

P.S. This is the last challenge for this year........Wow! Just where did that year go!
Don't worry though....we will be back in the New Year with more fun stuff to challenge us all! :)
Be there...or be square! ;)

Christmas Character for SCD

I immediately thought Disney when I saw this prompt from Laura "Christmas Character" ;)
You know the sort of thing Mickey as Santa.....alas no Disney character stamps but I did go for the cute option this week.

Looks a bit Disneyish don't ya think? Well perhaps not!! LOL
Now please don't look at the copic colouring too much I'm still not good at it!
I used a Toodles and Binks stamp for the cutsie deer.....added red glitter for the nose.
...stamped T!m snowflakes and embossed with Ranger holographic ep
...masked the deer and stippled the background using DI broken china and Adirondack willow
...stamped the Papermania deer at the top in Versafine and the T!m flourishes with DI tea dye.

Head over to Something Completely Different to see what the fabulous teamies on the DT have designed for you ;)
Hope to see you there......hey you never know one of T!m's tags coming up today, Saturday or Sunday could just fit the bill! ;)

Thanks for looking.....and Happy Stamping! :)

Trees for SCD

Yes it's Friday folks! It's my choice at SCD this week and I've chosen "Trees" as the prompt to make those tags with ;)
Yes one of my most favourite things to make.....Tags! Yeh!

Seeing as it's December I thought you could use Christmas trees if you feel the need LOL.
....but of course any sort of trees are just fine :)
Here is my tag

I love those T!m trees so much I had to stop myself stamping!

Dragged DI's old paper - scattered straw and shabby shutters across the tag
...stamped the lamp post and coloured with black soot and masked it.
..stamped the trees in a mixture of DI's peeled paint - brushed sage - pine needles.
...some of them are second stampings.
..added some Dimensional pearls (opal) to the ground and some of the trees.
...Studio G letters coloured with Copics.
...added a metal charm at the top to hold the tartan ribbon in place.
...I'm off to stroll down the path through the trees and see what I can find.
....It's obviously in Austria ;) so perhaps I'll find an imbiss hütte (snack hut) selling Glühwein! :)
Don't forget that in December we are asking you to try your hand at making a TAG and each week a new theme will be chosen.

Do hope my "Tree" theme grabs you just as much as it has me ;)
So looking forward to seeing your tag creations over at SCD this week.
Thanks for looking and happy stamping :)

Snow for SCD

It's the last Friday of the month over at SCD this week and sweetie Dawn has chosen "Snow" as the prompt.
...I wonder if that gal is psychic! LOL Hope you are warm and comfortable where ever you are :)
Don't forget that the November themes are there for you to make just about anything you like!
This week I'm sharing a scrapbook page....that's defo different for me!!! LOL

This is me when Pip and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in Mayrhofen in Austria
oooh that's nearly 9 years ago now!
We had gone for a walk in the woods...the sleigh bells were jingling...and Pip thought is was a good idea to make some of the snow drift down from the trees...make it more atmospheric I seem to remember him saying ;)
.......up he threw a stone and
......wallop!!.....down came an avalanche of snow right on top of me!!!
He captured the moment on camera really well :) Cheers mate!
Happy Times :)

Stamped black Bazzill card with snowflakes (Royal and Langnickel) using Versamark. Made sure they were dry before stamping further images with white Versa Color.
...then randomly stamped more snowflakes and winter wonderland text using Versamark again
.....this time embossing with winter wonderland ep.
...printed Snow Joking using a font called “Basic”...cut out and embossed using winter wonderland again.....offset stamped snowflakes on each letter in black Staz One and edged all letters with black Sharpie pen.
...made my own postage type decal "Winter Wonderland Magic" using Serif Draw Plus X4 printing it onto Letraset Safmat film. Rubbed onto photo....keep forgetting to use this stuff!!
...for the ribbon pull on the journaling block I used a white permanent pen to draw the lettering for “Tirol” and printed off the journaling blocks saying all the things I love about Austria using photo's from that trip and others.
....yep...I'm lucky enough to have been more than once! I have to keep reminding myself of stuff like this when I've been feeling sorry for myself just lately! LOL :)
...if you click on the photo to enlarge I think it is readable.
...printed the words READY, STEADY and AVALANCHE onto vellum

It's been a fabulous month seeing all your creations on the themes.
I know it's going to be fun seeing your Snow creations over at SCD this week too. ;)
Thanks for looking and happy stamping :)
xoxo Sioux
P.S. Just clicked on it myself and can only just make it out and I wrote it!!! HOL
The second bit down says
"I love everything about the Tirol in Austria
and spending my
December birthday there
was a dream come true,
even the unexpected
avalanche of heavy snow
when having my picture
taken was fun."

P.P.S. Sorry for the long post!!

Number 24601 for SCD

It's time for that Friday feeling again and at SCD this week Carol  ;) has chosen "Numbers" as the prompt.
Now I have to say that this took me some time to come up with an idea...but at the last minute the cogs seemed to start turning and this is my 5 and a half x 5 and a half piece this week!
Yes odd size.....but I just started stamping on a mat I had previously cutt and had not used! LOL

"24601" as the Les Miserables fans out there will know is the prison number of Valjean, one of the main characters.......hang on.....I feel the need to explain the tree growing out of the T!m eye!! Apparently Valjeans' father in the book itself was a tree pruner and he died falling out of a tree...not quite so abstract then!!! LOL (Thanks heaven for Google and Wikipedia!)
...I thought the T!m fingers round the edge could signify the fact Valjean could never quite escape the grasp of Javert the police inspector!!
Yeh! Those cogs were really spinning by now!! HOL
It's pretty self explanitory I think this week even I could not forget how I did it!
Which is the reason I write it down most of the time.

....Inks used
Adironack.........lemonade...latte...willow
Versamark.....onyx black...bottle green...
Archival.....sepia
Distress.....tattered rose...peeled paint...fired brick

....Stamps used
T!m/Stampers Anonymous......eye...Paris collage...palmist hand
Crafty Individuals....dotty corner
Stamp Attack.....tree
Papermania....numbers

It has to be one of the most memorable evenings seeing Les Miserables in Plymouth......it had just come from the West End (approx 15 OMG 18! yrs ago) and had some of the original and most well known performers still in the cast......for instance the fabulous inn keeper played to the hilt by Alun Armstong....unforgettable :)
...how come that I can remember that night like it was yesterday? And yet, at the moment, it's tricky remembering quite what I did 3 days ago!!! HOL
Here for your delectation is a video clip...have fun....it always makes me smile ;)

Don't forget that the November themes are there for you to make just about anything you like! So what are you waiting for? The number 25 could be quite useful for next month for instance ;)

So looking forward to seeing what your Number creations will be over at SCD this week.
Thanks for looking and happy stamping :)

Houses for SCD

So a new month is here....November!....I'm beginning to panic 'cos I have not made one single Crimbo card!! Have you?
Oh well never mind eh?
I'm sure my friends will understand if I send them a "whisper it" bought one for once!
Let's get on with the fun and this weeks theme over at SCD this week :)
"Houses" as chosen by Laura (counting down the days till Feb!)...Thanks for a great prompt!

I am in luurve with this scene from Cherry Pie....I can see myself now floating down the Rhine...or the Moselle...or indeed any other European river and passing gorgeous buildings like these...sipping a glass of wine and lazing on the deck of a barge.
(well.....really I'd like to be on a luxury cruiser...but my budget would not run to it!! HOL)

I very carefully looked at the stamp and decided that I wanted blues for the sky area....yellows for the buildings and greeny blues for the water
...put a light touch of DI's broken china/scattered straw and shabby shutters in sort of the right areas on a craft mat and then swooshed onto watercolour paper...but only gently!
...stamped the image and wording in Versafine black onyx and tattered and teared the edges inking with DI's shabby shutters and walnut stain.
Stamped the T!m corner scroll in wild honey and added the T!m sentiment...I do love that and aspire to it's aspiration...only one problem...
...I don't have a clue at the moment just what it is I'm seeking...LOL!

What sort of houses spring to mind for you?
Perhaps a Christmas house for your crimbo cards?
Don't forget that you can make anything you like using the themes this month!

Can't wait to see what you are going to share with us at SCD this week
Thanks for looking and happy stamping :)

Torso swaps

I have had this photo for ages now and have not posted it!
Slapped wrists!

Here are the super lovely torso's I received in the Something Completely Different swap month.

They were from ?...sorry no name on the back of the first one and no amount of searching the history has come up with the answer if it's you let me know ;) Karen Carol and Lauren
Are they not fabulicious?
Thanks everyone.
I'm still in my marathon sort out....trying to organise what storage I have to be able to craft more efficiently....i.e. spend more time making stuff and less time trying to find stuff!!!
It....and life...has been getting on top of me lately....there are days when I just cannot be bothered and end up doing very little but moving something from one pile to another it seems!!!
I can see some light at the end of the tunnel though and perhaps in another 10 days I just might be finished.

Claret and Blue - SCD

I'll confess I had in mind to make something different when I chose the colour combo "Claret and Blue" for the SCD challenge this week!
I was going to make a scrapbook page to remember my dear departed Phil's love of Burnley F.C. (they play in Claret and Blue) - at least he lived to see them make it into the Premier League ...pity he also knew they were going straight back down again!
- but I just could not do it....not as strong as I thought I was!!
On the bright side it meant that I made this birthday card instead for a dear friend who is madder on Burnley F.C. than Phil ever was.....as he lives not far from Burnley he very rarely misses a match!.....Phil only got to see them when they were on the television.

Stamped the T!m David in DI aged mahogany then masked and stamped the T!m numbers in faded jeans
...over stamped this with a Paperartsy number stamp in Colour Box Pigment Ink Sea glass and colored the iris with DI broken china
...edged with DI tea dye and coloured the face a little with it too
....matted and layered onto two pieces of card one coloured with DI black soot and one aged mahogany
...word fragments using Studio G letters....I do so love those :)
So what will you make this week with the colours Claret and Blue? We are all looking forward to seeing your takes on this over at SCD ;)
Thanks for looking and happy stamping

Yellows and Greens - SCD

It was teamie Ang who chose the colour combo of
I've chosen to make an ATC again.

Thought I'd give some of my other inks an airing and used Adirondack Dye Butterscotch to blend across the ATC
...stamped the door (Art Impressions) in Adirondack Archival black and then masked
...stamped a tree from (Stamp Attack) in shades of Adirondack Dye Lettuce and Bottle over the background and removed the mask
....coloured the door with Copic colours
...added a few more sprigs of greenery to the foreground (again Art Impressions)
...Studio G letters to create the word fragments

Hope you are inspired to make something this week and share it with us at SCD 'cos don't forget as long as you use the colour combo you can make anything you like ;)
It's been fab looking at all your creations :)

Thanks for looking and happy stamping :)

Orange and Black - SCD

It's Dawn's colour choice of Orange and Black this week over at SCD and it kick started me into making some extra elements to complete a wall hanging I started last year around this time!! Thanks Dawn :)
So what did I make?... I made a moo...in fact I made two moo's!

Dragged DI wild honey around the edge and stippled DI rusty hinge in the centre
...stamped the Inkadinkadoo eyes in Archival black then masked them
...the stamped bit that looks like animal print I got really excited about (sad or what! LOL) it is a Prima alphabet stamp and I thought it would just look cool as a background but when I'd done it it looked like this! Yeh!
....dragged tea dye and rusty hinge around the tattered edges
...added glossy accents to the eyes and Studio G letters finished it off
Those words will always remind me of Pip....he was a great one for remembering one liners from films and using them constantly in an everyday context :)
This one is from The Devil Rides Out

The second moo uses the same colour ink
...the sentiment is my own acrylic stamp
...the background feather image that looks a bit like flames is a Lawrence Lewellyn-Bowen stamp from Trimcraft that I was lucky to win as part of my Craft Stamper of the Year prize :)

Not long now and my year will be up and someone new will be Stamper of the Year
....have you entered? Good luck if you have :)
I have not got round to finishing the hangy piece yet but will try to do that and post it in the next couple of days.
Don't forget you can make anything for SCD this week as long as you use the colour scheme....does not have to be Hallowe'en...although the combo is ideal ;)
Thanks for looking and happy stamping

Purple and Green - SCD

Whoops!.....I said to myself.....or words to that effect! LOL

.....well it is a challenge!.......my previous attempts with purple have not been good so was not expecting much of myself......however I am pretty pleased with how this ATC turned out although the colours don't seem to be showing up well as the outer line of dots are defo purple and the inner dots are defo green!

Stippled background with DI's shabby shutters and peeled paint
....stamped the Paperarsty winged thing in Adirondack eggplant and added some aubergine glitter to accent the wings
(again the colours are off as this looks more like black on my screen !)
....stamped the T!m swirl in DI dusty concord
...stamped the Paperartsy sentiment in Adirondack wild plum
...added Adirondack dimensional acrylic dots in eggplant and pesto.

Go on.......challenge yourself this week!
Make anything you like for SCD as long as you use the colour combo purple and green :)

Thanks for looking and happy stamping

Shades of Autumn - SCD

A new month and a new month of themes at SCD  and we are having colour combo's as our inspiration so that you can make whatever you like! :) Sounds good to me ;)
The lovely Gez has chosen the colour palette this week at SCD and it's Shades of Autumn incorporating oranges, golds and browns.
I decided to make an ATC.

Stamped the T!m man (I do like a man who looks smart!) in Archival and coloured with copic markers
....masked him and stippled the background with spiced marmalade and brushed corduroy
...stamped the Paperartsy numbers in a second stamped wild honey
...cut slits at the side of the mans arms and inserted the wings (Paperartsy) that had been stamped in Stazon onto some gold Cava wrapper
....got to try to make some inroads into the stash I've built up!! HOL
...word fragment Paperartsy and the edges tattered and inked with walnut stain.
So.....what takes your fancy this week?.....a card?....an ATC?....a tag?
Does not matter what you make for the SCD challenge this week as long as you follow the chosen colour palette :)...Simples!
Thanks for looking and happy stamping :)
xoxo Sioux

P.S. Come back a bit later today and I'll be sharing my thrilling news! :) :)

Arches Birds - SCD

This week it's Laura who has set the theme for our arches and she chose "Birds"
Well we all love birds right?
...Here is mine
Stamped the bird (Crafty Individuals) in Archival sepia and masked it (I wanted to keep the creamy colour of the base card showing through the flowery bits!)
...inked the base card with DI's worn lipstick and shabby shutters
...stamped the T!m clock on a piece of inked up card and cut out and tattered round the edge
...stamped the T!m line of birds in Archival black
...Is it me? But that middle bird looks like it's had far too much Cava!!! HOL
...stamped the T!m wordy/postcardy bit in Archival crimson
...stamped the T!m tattoo border in Archival coffee and the swirls in DI tea dye
...word fragments Studio G..........mmmm! Love those :)
...Sing letters Papermania
...felt it needed something to finish it off so added Glossy Accents to the bird and pearls to the side........I'm going to make a plug here 'cos those pearls are really lovely....nice finish and gorgeous colours.....by Prima and I bought them at The Artistic Stamper
...tattered the edge and inked with walnut stain and tea dye

...So come on and play along this week and create an arch for SCD
Thanks for looking and happy stamping

Arches Stars - SCD

Hiya SCD'ers....this week it's me who chose the theme "Stars"
I love to look at the stars...I'm ever hopeful that one day I'll be beamed up!! LOL

I stamped the freebie CS ticket stamp in Archival coffee and aged a bit with DI mahogany and faded jeans then masked it
....stamped the starry sky (Non Sequitur) in Versacolour indigo and coloured the background a bit with DI scattered straw/wild honey and shabby shutters
...stamped the grassy bits in peeled paint/shabby shutters and pumice stone
....stamped Alice (Cherry Pie) in Archival black and coloured with DI tea dye/aged mahogany/worn lipstick/wild honey and shabby shutters and then cut out
...added some star jewels....some glitter glue to other stars...gold pearls and word fragments
..tattered the edge a bit and used DI walnut stain/tea dye to age

Why not share your star themed arches with us this week at SCD
...we are all dying to see them :)

Thanks for looking and happy stamping

Arches The 50's - SCD

It's the second week already for making arches at SCD and teamie Ang has chosen "The 50's"
......a fab prompt to base our art work around :)
I thought this chap had the look of a Teddy Boy about him.....HOL

Swooshed DI's worn lipstick/tea dye and antique linen for the backgound
...stamped the David T!m stamp in aged mahogoney and masked
...stamped the T!m bingo line in Archival black
...stamped the wording (Stamp Attack) at the side
...stamped and clear embossed the vinyl record (Stamp Attack) and cut out
...word fragments (Studio G) stamped in Adirondack stream
...I'm so pleased that Dunelm Mill opened that shop the other week 'cos I've now got some more of those Studio G alphabet stamps....yes...yes...yes!
Let's see what "The 50's" mean to you this week :)
Thanks for looking and happy stamping

Arches Lace - SCD

Oh Dear SCD'ers!!!
If you are expecting some sweet.....vintage....loveliness lace concoction this week from me for the first week in the new month of arches I'm afraid you are going to be disappointed! LOL
My lovely teamie Dawn picked "lace" for her first chosen theme as an SCD DT member and I could not get the film title "Arsenic and Old Lace" out of my head
.......so I just had to do this so I could move on with my life!!! HOL
Hold on to your hats....
....especially if you are not a Hallowe'en fan!
I did try not to make it too spooky......

Googled image of a vintage arsenic label and printed off
.....stamped the T!m skeleton and masked to stamp the tombstone (my own)
......stamp...not tombstone you understand!! HOL
(It's actually a coffin lid but works just as well for the tombstone providing you mask the end!!)
....some DI's faded jeans/shabby shutters/dusty concord for the background
...greenery, grass and trees in a mixture of pine needles/shabby shutters/peeled paint and brushed corduroy
.....stapled the lace that I had previously distress inked (you might have caught a glimpse of it hanging in my cupboard to dry on WOYWW this week!) and coloured the staples black with a sharpie pen

Thanks for looking and happy stamping
Can't wait to see what you all make this week for SCD.....I'd get yourselves over to the rest of the team for a look 'cos you will get a loveliness fix there for sure :)

Of the Sea - SCD

Carol chose the prompt "Of the Sea" for our torso this week at Something Completely Different.
I have very little in the way of sea related stamps
...something I will have to try and rectify soon if possible :)
I ended up doing this.

I painted the background with Adirondack Dimensional acrylics (stream and pesto) watered down they still have a glimmery finish to them :)
....stamped the compass in Adirondack dye ink stream and the lovely CS freebie stamp from Crafty Individuals in lettuce
I spritzed some tissue paper with glimmer mists in patina and frozen lake and draped it across then added some diamond glitter glue and sprinkled some loose glitter over
...the metal twisty bit of the necklace is from a cava bottle fastening
.............(now there's a surprise!! LOL) with added seed beads at the top and an acrylic shell embellishment fastened with a bit of raffia.
Now don't forget that this is also a swap month.....one for one....so you don't have to have made a torso every week to take part :) Just e-mail Carol for the details and can't wait to see what goodies I receive :)
Thanks for looking and happy stamping.
xoxo Sioux
P.S. Also don't forget that the torso's should be ATC size.....if you like the rather rounded figure I've used you can download

Red & Black - SCD

Hope you are having fun with the torso theme!
This week at SCD we are asked to use the colours red and black by Gez.
Red and black always conjure up something oriental to me.......so here is my torso.

Swooshed some DI's spun sugar...pumice stone and aged mahogany to form the background
....stamped the Paperartsy oriental lady
(yeh believe it or not she is visible....just....in real life LOL!!)
in Adirondack cranberry and masked the image
.....stamped the small icons (Stamp Attack) around the edge and the word Japan (again Stamp Attack) firstly in catseye Chianti with some clear embossing over but it did not cover too well so overstamped in DI black soot!! The oriental motif forming a sort of necklace (Stamp Attack) was embossed with disco black and the squiggly bits in aged mahogany is an outline stamp of the Japanese Islands (Stamp Attack)
.....stamped the Paperartsy oriental writing in Stazon onto some gold wrapper from a Cava bottle.......I've got quite a little stash of this now!!! LOL Hick!!!...and stuck just a little for accent to the corner and top
.....drew a black line around the oriental lady to define her as she was blending into the background too much and covered with rock candy crackle
....then rubbed DI black soot in the cracks
....only some of the cracks were a bit big and more black soot than I wanted seeped through!!!!
Hope to see you playing along with the red and black theme this week :) 'Cos don't forget we are doing swopsies this month that Carol is very kindly co-ordinating for us
.....just e-mail her for the deets.
Thanks for looking and happy stamping
xoxo Sioux

Memories - SCD

Well...how did you get on with the torso last week?
Did you  :)
or did you :( ?
This week it is still the torso shape and the prompt by my SCD teamie Laura is Memories.
I seem to get the Barbara Streisand song running through my brain whenever I hear the word Memories.....so here is my torso.

Background swooshed with DI's peeled paint/antique linen/pumice stone then stamped the  Paperartsy couple in archival black and the fringed material (again Paperartsy) with a combo of teal/celadon/chianti cats eye pigment ink...the word yearning is Distress embossed with antique linen and the word fragments embossed with Stamp n Stuff pewter
.........bit of frayed ribbon and a gorgeous little brad from Kaiser that has been waiting for just the right home.
Powerful stuff memories!!! Most of mine are of good times with Pip (perhaps that is what makes it so hard?)
....I can be getting along with life well and the next minute........boom!
.....the tiniest thing can set me off on a weepie!!!

I hope you are going to take the plunge and join in this week over at
Something Completely Different. :)
Thanks for looking and happy stamping!

SCD? - It's Blinging Official!!

A big hello from me fellow SCD'ers!
Yes! Today I have good news.....ring those bells
....'cos I'm now officially on the DT for Something Completely Different :)
How amazing.......how scary! LOL.......What a thrill to be asked :))))
When I saw this months format was "Torso's" I nearly wondered if I had made the right decision ......HOL
....but seriously it is not as daunting as you might think.....it's basically a different shape to stamp those lovely rubbery images onto
.....yeh we can do that!
So this weeks theme chosen by fellow DT Ang (Ooh! Get me!!!) is "A Bit of Bling" and here is my movie star torso....can't get more blingy than the stars of the silver screen can you?

I lightly coloured the background with DI spun sugar and brushed corduroy and stamped the Paperartsy movie star lady in brushed corduroy also -- then masked her and stamped the T!m ticket stamp......masked that then stamped the little stars (my own) in DI aged mahogany.......masked them then stamped the hounds tooth (my own) over the rest of it using a second stamping in brushed corduroy again.
Added black star gems to the red stars and a combo of gems around the big star...mainly because I did not have enough of any one colour! LOL
The little crown is Ten Seconds Studio metal in hot pink diamond....stamped and moulded.
....The wording is Paperartsy and is really good for filling in with dimensional Adirondack acrylics.

And that's not all folks!!!........I've also been creating digitally and have made a button for all you devotees of SCD to link to on your side bar
......I hope you like it :)

....so please grab the image and save to your computer
......then add the SCD url as a link when you upload the picture to your sidebar.
Thanks for looking and happy stamping!
Go on.......give a Torso a try....I'm glad I did :)
xoxo Sioux

P.S. Don't forget that the torso's should be ATC size as we are going to be swapping at the end of the month.....if you like the rather rounded figure I've used you can download
a jpeg version here
and a png version here
