Birthday Card at last

Been too caught up with what seems a never ending task lately!
Namely making cards for the hotel.

I've learnt that I can't keep up, work all week and have creative playtime...so sadly I've not been making anything!
We have agreed that I can't carry on like that so my designs are going to be used by a local printer to supply the hotel instead. Not quite hand made but I'm sure they will fit the bill.

On a brighter note....I did get some time to make a card last week....hurrah ;)

I spritzed some watercolour card with Dylusions and went from there....die cutting some different butterflies...Papertrey Ink and Sizzix. Some mini Tim Holtz stamps and large butterfly water coloured stamped, a sentiment from Papertrey finished it off. The wire butterflies layered on top just added that bit extra....a bargain from our local cheapo shop Bastins. :)

PTI 8th Anniversary take 3!

It's Papertrey Inks 8th Birthday celebrations this month and I'm back for my third attempt using the sketch and colour recipe choices.

This uses the mask off the card and stamp words sketch.
I've used the same colours as the last card 'cos I really liked the combo (or what looks similar in brackets....'cos I don't possess any Papertrey Inks!)
Raspberry Fizz (Pickled Raspberry distress)
Hawaiian Shores (Peacock Feathers distress)
New Leaf (Lettuce adirondack)
Harvest Gold (Lemonade adirondack)
Classic Kraft (Latte adirondack)

I am much happier with the outcome of this and somehow the colours look so much better than my last feeble attempt....although the green and brown don't look that much different on this photo (looks different IRL)
I love that dress form die and stamp set by Dawn...definitely one of my favourites.
It's a good way to practise neat and tidy these competitions ;)
Thanks for looking

Stamps used:
Dressform mini stamp set
Delightful Dahlia
Botanical Silhouettes
Matt Stack 3 Collection (for the dotty border down the side)
Mega Mixed Messages
Dies used - Dressform, Delightful Dahlia, Double-Ended banners

PTI 8th Anniversary

It's Papertrey Inks 8th Birthday celebrations this month.
I have followed Nichole's blog since the beginning..almost!

For a long time I just drooled over the stuff that was released each month but at the time could not justify the costs of buying!!!
I treated myself to a whole shedload the Christmas Phil died and have
a. Hardly ever played with them since (shame on me) and...
b. Never bought anymore because the import duty I had to pay was beyond belief!

I decided it was time to try to contact with my neat and tidy side but it is proving to be a bit difficult!!! ROFL
(Also you can't deny that the possibility of winning the the $300 grand prize is a big incentive too) ;)

This is my first attempt using the sketch and colour recipe choices.
This uses the three similar objects and ground them on a strip of cardstock or ribbon sketch.
Colours (or what looks similar in brackets....'cos I don't possess any Papertrey Inks!)
Summer Sunrise (Wild Honey distress)
Berry Sorbet (Worn Lipstick distress)
Ripe Avocado (Peeled Paint distress)
Spring Moss (Shabby Shutters distress)
Aqua Mist (Tumbled Glass distress)

I'm fairly happy with this....those teacups are particularly cute....
...although I find it hard to stick to sketches too! ;)
Thanks for looking
xoxo Sioux

Stamps used
Background Basics Retro and Botanical for the strip of cardstock
Tea for Two and Tea for Two additions
Embellishments

Eek! If you are 30!

I'm due to attend Phil's God daughter's 30th birthday bash next weekend.

She has goth tendencies so hopefully this card will go down a treat! I can't tell you how nice it is to make this sort of card and know the recipient will "get it"!! LOL

Eyes, spider web and spider all Inka-dinka-doo......numbers Papertrey Ink dies embossed with a T!m folder....letters by T!m (Vintage Market die strip) stamped with my dance background (as is the mat layer inked with DI rusty hinge) available from The Artistic Stamper. The eyes were coloured with rusty hinge also with glossy accents added.
I decorated the insert too with a computer generated sentiment "Not so scary as you think!"
(I remember I did not want to be 30 and I'm thinking she does not relish the thought either!)
...printed out and then die cut with a Papertrey fillable frames 10 die and added some stamped twiddly bits also PI!

Thanks for looking :)
Happy Stamping

Funny old week!

It's been a bit of a funny old week!
If it could happen it has happened and I confess it got a bit too much one day and tears of frustration broke out!
a) If you read my post on Monday you will know there was a problem with the drains....I have to tell you I did indeed need the man with the equipment!! £96.00 lighter in my pocket too!
b) The fingers on my right hand seem to have galloping arthritis.......they keep locking and it's a bit painful to force them to unlock!
c) My toilet flush push gave way and I can't see anyway to fix it! I'm pouring water from a large pan down the thing for now and I had to turn off the in line stopcock thingy 'cos it won't stop filling!
d) A package arrived and the kind delivery man left it in my greenhouse...unfortunately he also managed to dislodge the door making one of the wheel things break and I came home at lunch to find the door had fallen off....luckily the glass had not broken and I did manage to get it back up in a fashion.
...to be fair it had been a bit tricky to open for a while so I can't blame him totally!! LOL
(Good job it's not freezing weather or everything would be dead by now)

On the plus side..
...I like to try find a positive for every negative keeps me a bit sane!

a) It was a girlie night out last night and we had a fab time.
b) I'm losing weight still....at around a pound a week (I'm very happy with that!).
c) It's only 12 more sleeps till T!m!
d) The door wheel things for the greenhouse arrived Friday and I've spent 2 hours today just getting the old screw out 'cos it was rusted in.
...lots of dremelling (is that a word?!) and sawing of metal.
..fitting the new wheel (that bit was easy!)...and hanging the door back on....(that was not so easy!)...and now my shoulder is aching like mad!!
...I was going to fit both wheels but I lost the will to live after the first one and the other wheel was not damaged so I did not think it worth the effort LOL.
Still....it is a positive 'cos now the door is fixed :)
So now I've decided to !*$$ the DIY jobs for the rest of this weekend and play with stamps :)
Here's one I made this afternoon.

PTI - Make it Monday

I stumbled on the Papertrey Ink blog site when it first started and I've been hooked every month since...watching all the goodies on their release and wishing I could have some!
I also like visiting Dawn Mcvey and love the designs she comes up with and when I saw this little set on it's release in November I had to have it ;)

I've resisted temptation for 4 years...give me a break...it was my Christmas present to myself!

(and seeing as it was going to cost me some ridiculous amount for the postage I thought I might as well get a few more sets whilst I was at it HOL)

As part of the celebrations for the 4th birthday they are starting a Make it Monday Series....which basically is a challenge where you can use your Papertrey goodies. The first one is today and there is a fabulous mega prize up for grabs if you join in....so here I am.
Not much chance of a Brit being picked I think but what the heck I had fun playing with this tonight.
I started about 20 minutes after I got home...
...had to put caustic soda down the drain outside first looks like there is a bit of a problem hope I don't need the man with the equipment!!!......mmmm then again... ;)
...and all of sudden it was 7.30 and my peppermint tea I brewed when I got in was cold and no food on the table!!! LOL

Inks - VersaMagic pumpkin spice and cloud white, Archival sepia and black
Stamps - Signature Series Dressform, Delightful Dahlia, Mega Mixed Messages, Mat Stack 1 Collection, Green Thumb, Autumn Abundance, Honey Bees and Embellishments.
Oooh I do love dress forms :)
