Ruination again!

Still having fun with the Andy Skinner Ruination book ;)

I bought the normal sort of masking fluid that is white (my old bottle had dried up...well it has been a long time since I was doing a water colouring course at night school!!! LOL) but could see the benefit of having a coloured version for the technique taught....so decided to experiment and added a few drops of  Distress re-inker to it! :) Seems to do the trick! ;)

Just a word of warning.....it is fine for this technique as it all gets covered up with paint anyway...but if you want the layer underneath to be the original colour when it gets exposed it will have taken on a hint of the distress ink colour!

Thanks for looking and come back soon for the next stage.

Mmm Ruination!

Having fun with the Andy Skinner Ruination book ;)

I went to three different shops on Saturday that stocked the Acrylics mentioned in the class...and that takes some travelling miles round here!...but...in all of them the display stand had no mention of most of the specific colours!!!

So made a decision to get colours in different brands..but still not so easy, had to make an educated guess...in the end I got these....time will tell if they look similar!!!!
(Already had the white and the black)

So I made a start and this is the stage I'm at.

Thanks for looking and come back soon for the next instalment ;)

Ruination!

When Joanne told me she had signed up for this on-line workshop by Andy Skinner I was intrigued by the title!
"Book of Ruination" ;)

It appealed to my senses...don't you just love that word "Ruination"! LOL
So I signed up for it too...
...will have to get some supplies tomorrow so that I can make a start ;)
The link HTML above was supposed to go on my side bar but unfortunately it does not display correctly as it is too big! I'm picky about the look of my blog so I'm leaving it off!

I'll be sharing something for The Artistic Stamper tomorrow...
...come back and visit me then :)

xoxo Sioux

P.S. Unfortunately it does not look like I shall be ruined any day soon!
But I keep on hoping!! ROFLIA ;) ;)

Kiss kiss kiss

I did not like that I can't do all the stuff you can on the computer to post...
...call me picky but I need to be in control! LOL
So created the photo again in my graphic programme and am posting again. ;)
It's probably great for just posting a photo to share, or perhaps I need to explore the phone app more?

And yes those are my lips! ROFL

I honestly loved everyone on Dance for Comic Relief tonight....but I have to say...no one was close to the performance last year of Roland :(
I gave my vote to The Soap Stars....and I texted my £5.00 donation...hope you did too ;)

Kissing with Confidence

I'm entering this in the Stampotique challenge this week (SDC 90) where the theme is "Inspired by a Song"

I'm always being inspired by a song...heard this old song on the radio today (sung by Will Powers if you are interested...no...I could not have guessed that one either) and it just seemed right...

Lets Dance!

I've spent a very physical hour dancing already tonight ;)
(Need to work off my frustrations somehow!!! ROFLIA)
Now it's Dance for Comic Relief time again....yeh!
So.....Waterloo Road were good...
...John Culshaw was cool...but not as cool as Roland!
Katherine Ryan and her costume was fab-u-lous!
I don't do soaps so have never seen the Corrie guy before...
...I do love a bit of tap though :)
However my vote goes to Katherine Ryan.....I do love that song too it is so good to dance to. :)

Things that Matter

So...orange and purple together is not something that I would automatically go for but I have to say the design team pieces show how fab a colour combo that can be. ;)
They certainly inspired me to join in with this tag...

...this turned out better than I expected ;)
Dylusions sprayed as background...butterflies coloured with the dylusions too.

Lets Dance!

I love to dance!
I'm not saying I am any good at it!
These days I only dance on my own in the living room!!!
Still.........It makes me happy and there is something very liberating about feeling the beat ;)
So I love lets dance for comic relief :)
My personal choice tonight was....
...Weeelllll Ricky Hatton could have been so much better but...
....I go for Soap Stars and Destiny's Dad!!!
Very entertaining.
But neither are any where near to being in the league of Roland Rivron!!! ;)
Yeah! Menopausal women of the world unite!

On the way to our dreams

This rather hit the spot with me creative wise ;)

The only really technical thing about this was the clear embossing to the heart in the corner as I did not want the rest of the stamping to interfere with that!!
So I stamped it in Archival coffee, coloured the heart with some Dylusions...and the banner with a Distress marker...then used an embossing pen over this and heat embossed with clear powder.

Everything else was simply stamped in Distress or Archival with no masking involved at all...yeh!
I finally coloured some card with red ink, stamped and cut out the car....added some glossy accents for the windows and attached with silicone glue...the brads added an extra masculine touch don't ya think?

Thanks for looking.

Red, Pink and White at Stampotique

I'm entering this in the Stampotique challenge this week (SDC 86) where the theme is
"Red, Pink and White"

This little scrapling card uses a light spritz of Dylusions and a quick swipe of Distress paint in pickled raspberry...

...well I had to try one or two didn't I? Just to test and see if there is any difference to Fresco's...personally I'm not convinced there is any difference....apart from the obvious colour palette! So I'll be buying Fresco's and not Distress....personal choice.

Jo's Bee was stamped on the card and a touch of red glitter added to the body...then I decided to add another layer and stamped the large bee again onto a bit of plastic packaging and glittered the wings pink.....so not me!!!! ROFL

Thanks for looking

And this is me!

Ever since I started this old blog back in August 2008 I've had the digital image of me at the top of the page...

well I decided to have some fun and took some pictures of myself on Monday...in all 167 on the auto setting...you know it detects a face and shoots!!!
Just to get barely 20 I was happy with!!! LOL

a) because I wanted a picture of the real me here.

b) I've joined the 21st century at last and gone on a contract for my mobile with a smartphone Yeh!...and need updated photo's for putting on stuff like What's App etc.

c) I'm rather happy that I've lost a bit more weight/toned up with Zumba, and feel confident enough to share myself! ROFL

The eagle eyed among you (that would definitely be Joanne ;))
Saw the initial photo on Monday /Tuesday....

but I've tinkered with it since then and feel it is more me now!!!!!!!!
LOL

Believe it!

Believe it or not I sat in the garden on Saturday morning for breakfast...the first time this year....even if I did have to wear my fleece....it still felt good :)
Could not have possibly done it Sunday though!!!

Looking forward to many more...without the fleece on...
...and who knows, perhaps a good man might join me one of these days too...
...I live in hope! ROFL ;)
Good to see Petula is still going strong at 80...I'm hoping to do the same fingers crossed.
She was Pip's favourite :)
Got some art for tomorrow if you want to come back ;)

Happy Escape!

I was thrilled to be a favourite for my tag in last weeks Stampotique challenge.....thanks so much. :)

I'm entering this new journal page in the Stampotique challenge this week (SDC 85) where the theme is "Whatever makes you happy"

I had a lucky escape Monday evening!
The rain was sheeting down and the wind was blowing a hooley here......and a tree came down in the lane leading up to the works unit. Apparently it's a bit of a miracle how it missed me on my way out, as one of the guys was literally just a minute (possibly even seconds) behind me in leaving and it was down by then!!! He had to get the lorry with it's lifting gear to shift it!
Fortunately I did not know anything about it until I came to work the morning after.............phew!

Obviously that guardian angel is saving me for better things!!! Like a good man...

..possibly even RA!! HOL ;)
So it makes me even more happy I'm alive at the moment :)
Thanks for looking.

Hearts and Flowers for The Artistic Stamper

Last months challenge "Use your favourite stamp" saw some varied and creative creations :)
So the challenge for this month is
Yes, how fitting for February the month of luuurve ;), over at The Artistic Stamper Creative Team

I decided to make a tag, just for a change ROFLIA ;)

I first cut some tattered florals from some crowded attic papers. Then stamped alternate petal layers with the sequin waste open A5 and calligraphic mat 13 using Versamark and heat embossed in white and pewter powders. Layered them up and secured with a brad.
The dancer was stamped onto grunge paper and cut out then I used the new Ranger emboss it dabber (love that ;)) to cover the surface and used Distress embossing powder in tattered rose.
The heart is from the home sweet home A5 plate and was again stamped on grunge paper and red glitter applied.

The background on the tag was made using Dylusions sprays in bubblegum pink, fresh lime and melted chocolate. Water was then spritzed through a mask and some of the ink lifted off using kitchen roll.
Using Archival inks in black, crimson and coffee I stamped the ticket from Labels, the stamp from Airmail bird collage elements, the crown from crowning glory, the row of crowns from London A6 and the bubbles from Borders A6.

The sentiment used the smaller scrabble letters from Scrabble and Tags A4 plate and the open wings from the dancer plate were stamped onto the dance background and cut out.
Everything was stuck down with either silicone glue or glossy accents.

You really must take a look at the "Hearts and Flowers" creations the rest of the team have made.

So don't forget.............the monthly challenge is "Hearts and Flowers"
The rules are simple... all you need to do is make a piece of art, be it a card, ATC, wall art, altered art, scrapling or tag;)... just remember that it must include some rubber stamping and the theme... and... if you use Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry you will be entered into the draw twice! The prize is £15 worth of stamps from the Artistic Stamper shop... along with the KlingOn to mount them onto.
I hope you get chance to play at the challenge... it is open until February 28th and the winner will be chosen by Random.org shortly after :)

Thanks for looking and happy stamping

What's all the fuss about?

I have to say that I can't understand what the big who ha is about with the release of Ranger Distress Paints!!!
We have a home grown equivalent in Paperartsy Fresco Paints.
I don't have many colours but having had a play yesterday I find they do just what T!m says his "new" paints do....so I'm afraid I am not going to jump on the band wagon and covet Rangers new release...there is no comparison because, if only for monetary terms, the Ranger paint is £4.99  for 1 oz and Paperartsy is £3.30  for 50 ml.....and 50ml compared to 1 oz is approx twice as much!!!!!!
NO CONTEST!!! ;)
British really can be best :)

So what's his problem?

So the last time I saw that man was 29th December....we have texted, e-mailed and talked on the phone....but...and it's a BIG BUT....we have not met since then!!!
I am wondering what he is doing on a dating site if he does not have the time to actually date!!!
The clue is in the title "Dating" site. ROFL
I told him to just say if he was not interested, that I'm a big girl and can deal with it....but he says he really likes me.....said it more than once!
If you really like someone don't you usually try to make an effort?
Hey....it's all part of the journey.
I believe he truly is a workaholic....I understand why he has to be....he is a nice guy but I'd rather like a man who wants to be with me.....once a week would be good for starters!!!
It's not too much to ask is it?
 xoxo Sioux

P.S. Thanks for the multi-dating warnings......believe me it's crossed my mind more than once.....this girl is no fool.....but...and it's a BIG BUT....I just don't believe he is the sort...nor has he the time to fit them in!!! ROFLIA :) Besides we are not an item ;) LOL

New Year - New Life!

Today is a new year.

Today I am looking forward and not looking back!

Time to grab life while I can.

Time to open my heart to what might be ahead.

I wish you all more happiness than sadness in 2013.

Take care and thank you for your entertaining comments throughout the year.
Hugs
xoxo Sioux

I'll leave you with this...I think I like it best of all the things I made this year because it says it all really....I need to have a brave heart and truly listen to what it is telling me! ;)

I saw this inspirational quote on Dyan Reaveley's blog a while back,

"If you don't like something - change it...

If you can't change it - change your attitude..!"

Here is to embracing change!
And lets not forget embracing a good man...
...whoever he may be! ROFL

Yikes it just might be real!

I talked (on the phone not just on-line typing chat) to that man at last.
Yikes!!! He seems real :) Yikes!!! He seems genuine :)
Yikes!!! He seems awfully busy with work commitments!!! Mmmmmm?
He does not seem like the sort of bloke who has women lined up in the wings....
...but you never know! LOL

Somehow or other I don't believe the sort of bloke that buys a fire engine because it was made in the year he was born, or takes his "home from Uni" daughter to grandma to help decorate her tree can be all that bad ;)

I'll let you know if we eventually meet up ;)

Wanted!

Hi folks!

I had so much fun making this page....featuring 3 of my hottest male fantasies!! ROFL
Rufus, Richard and Luca (Inspector Montalbano)...and mystery man?...well one of these days I'm hoping he will turn into reality and will be "The one that I want"...I have to believe there is someone out there for me....I absolutely hate living on my own, I've come to realise I function better as part of a couple ;)
I made this at my weekend away with crafting friends Sue and Laura

We went to Jamie Oliver's in Bath on Friday for my birthday and crafted all day Saturday and Sunday morning too...we shared such a lot of wicked laughs and surprisingly I actually made a few things!!! My heart has just not been in crafting of late
Big hugs and thanks for sharing the weekend girls. :)

I'm in the mood for love

I've made a tag today for Hels Sunday Stamper.

So am I in the mood for love?
Well obviously yes, otherwise I would not have signed up to a dating site!
I some how don't think it's ever going to work with anyone who lives more than say 25 miles away though.
So how nice that someone in Exmouth started e-mail conversations with me a few weeks ago...which led to telephone conversations...which led to actually meeting up for the first time yesterday. :)
Heavens! It's a bit weird meeting someone like that...he seemed a nice chap for someone but not for me....There was no chemistry thing going on....so we agreed that was the end of it!!!
Hey ho...back to the drawing board...and my fantasies! ROFL

Home for Christmas for The Artistic Stamper

It was nice to see all the "Anything Goes" creations for last months challenge, some very, very arty beauty there folks :)
So..... how do you feel about this one then?
"Home for Christmas"
Yes it's a seasonal challenge for December over at The Artistic Stamper Creative Team ;)

I decided to make a quadruple ATC display.

I made a background on white card by spraying Dylusions in vibrant turquoise, lemon zest and London blue and bleached out some colour by spraying water through a stencil and blotting off.
I then cut 4 pieces of card just a little smaller than ATC size as I knew I wanted to mount them on black ATC card blanks.
I wanted this to have a Christmas feel but perhaps not conventionally so!

On the first ATC:

...I stamped the Santa in Archival black, and added a touch of stickles to the circle surrounding him and a little white sparkly embossing to his moustache.
...stamped the holly motive in Distress peeled paint on each edge and added some red glitter to the berries.
To finish I added some mini journaling words.

On the second ATC:

...I stamped the word Home in Archival black all around the edges,
...I stamped two of the cute house images in Versamark on black card and heat embossed with sparkly white powder and cut them out and attached,
...stamped two hearts in Distress aged mahogany and cut out and attached.

On the third ATC:

...I stamped the Christmas greeting and candle images in Archival black,
...added some red glitter to the berries, added a touch of stickles to the circle surrounding the flames with some heat embossed sparkly white powder too.
To finish I added some mini journaling words.

On the fourth ATC:

...I stamped the Christmas greeting in Archival black,
...stamped the oblong star image in Versamark on black card and heat embossed with sparkly white powder,
...stamped three crowns in Distress aged mahogany onto a piece of previously inky coloured card, cut out and attached.

To finish I heat embossed gold powder on all the edges using a embossing pen to make a shabby border.
The atc's were joined together with some tissue tape.

List of stamps used:
Mini Christmas 1 plate
Crowning Glory
Home Sweet Home A5 plate
Mini Journaling Words 1

You really must take a look at the "Home for Christmas" creations the rest of the team have made and here are the DT member links for you.

So don't forget.............the monthly challenge is "Home for Christmas"
The rules are simple... all you need to do is make a piece of art, be it a card, ATC, wall art, altered art, scrapling ;)... just remember that it must include some rubber stamping and the theme... and... if you use Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry you will be entered into the draw twice! The prize is £15 worth of stamps from the Artistic Stamper shop... along with the KlingOn to mount them onto.
I hope you get chance to play at the challenge... it is open until December 31st and the winner will be chosen by Random.org shortly after :)
