Spots and Stripes for The Artistic Stamper

Thanks for creating all those "Ribbons and Lace" projects for last months challenge :)
So..... how do you feel about this one then for eeeK! May already...no it cannot be surely?
"Spots and Stripes"
Yes it's a pattern combo challenge for June over at The Artistic Stamper Creative Team ;)

I made a journal page.......surprise, surprise!
First I prepped the page with a rough coating of....wait for it...a paint sample pot in a beige colour from the DIY found lurking in my shed! It seems to be fine!

Then I added some Distress Ink aged mahogany to colourise a bit then stamped backgrounds randomly using a combo of Distress Inks peeled paint, aged mahogany,  and brushed corduroy......backgrounds used mini polka dots and dots.
The punk plaid background was stamped at the side in Distress Ink Walnut stain and the word Imagine in Archival crimson.

I hand drew the elongated hearts on a separate piece of paper and stamped the mini polka dots, houndstooth and graph paper backgrounds on them creating bands on the large and one of the small hearts...
...these were then coloured with neo colour and adhered to the page using multi medium matte.
The crown from Crowning Glory was stamped in Archival black and I edged the hearts with a black pen.

At this point I did not think the hearts were popping as much as they should so I smeared some gesso all around with my fingers.
The word fragments were mounted onto black card and adhered with glossy accents.
I just love trying to make up sentences with these.....;)

And I've left myself some space for when the urge to add some journaling happens :)

You really must take a look at the "Spots and Stripes" creations the rest of the team have made and here are the DT member links for you.

So don't forget.............the monthly challenge is "Spots and Stripes"
The rules are simple... all you need to do is make a piece of art, be it a card, ATC, wall art, altered art, journal page ;)... just remember that it must include some rubber stamping and the theme... and... if you use Artistic Stamper stamps on your entry you will be entered into the draw twice! The prize is £15 worth of stamps from the Artistic Stamper shop... along with the KlingOn to mount them onto.
I hope you get chance to play at the challenge... it is open until May 31st and the winner will be chosen by Random.org shortly after :)

Thanks for looking and happy stamping
xoxo Sioux

  2. Having talked today at great lengths about the comfort gained from journaling, should I pick it up again or not??? This page is 'speaking' to me because you have left it open to be able to add more, as and when. Being able to talk about this aspect of crafting made me think again. Thank you so much.
