Well here is the "bone folder" I use. Can anyone shed any light on what it's purpose was in it's former life? The edges are all rounded and smooth and there is some wording stamped into it "FAUDEL'S" and stamped at one end with "1in 3/8" which it actually measures across and it is 8 and 4/8 inches long. It is made of wood and makes a great "bone folder" as its age has obviously added to the smooth edges it has. Hope someone can help :)))

It could be a page turner probably used in a Victorian office for turning the pages of a large ledger.

I cant tell by the photo, but if it has a curve to it it could be an old shoe horn!
ReplyDeleteAfraid it is as straight as a die! So probably not a shoe horn. But thanks for the thought. Have been thinking about Alimayes suggestion and I get the feeling those things used to be much longer than this is? Perhaps it will remain a mystery?
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Is it made from wood?
ReplyDeleteI've just Googled 'Faudel' & it keeps coming up with a French singer. Not much help I know but it not Faudel's now its yours!!! Glad its useful.xx

Faudel's was a manufacturer of Sewing Machines- I'm just wondering if this was to help making bias binding that measured 1 3/8 " or something like that??!
ReplyDeleteAlso Faudel, Phillips & Sons were makers of vintage sewing wares- so mabe it's something for turning stuff inside out- I very technically call mine a pokey stick!!
ReplyDeleteNetting tool??
