The same but different!

Hi there!
Two cards started off in the same way, but ending up just different enough to give to two chaps at work whose birthdays are this week.
The "David" stamped with Archival and masked.
Then one was spritzed with Dylusions postbox red and Glimmer Mist patina.

The other was masked and the remaining spray left on my non stick mat was dabbed on with a damp baby wipe.
(The less vibrant one).
David roughly coloured with Distress antique linen.
Distress victorian velvet used to stamp some swirly bits around the edges.
Distress vintage photo for the T!m pen nibs and alphabet block.
Versafine black for the T!m numbers and long wording and also the circular Birthday Wishes which was free with a magazine.....the magazine was not my taste and would have been a waste of money apart from the stamps!!! LOL

...Flowers/bulbs/seeds

...You can't go to Amsterdam and not have chips with mayonnaise from the oldest outlet

I remember having some from here when I was on a school trip way back when....it took us ages to find it so I took a photo of the street it's on...just in case we go back!!! It was worth it!!! :)

Jenever tasting & herrings!

One of the reasons I booked the hotel was the fact they offered jenever tastings!!
I wanted to surprise my honey with a little Valentine gift ;)
This is the very atmospheric hotel bar (it used to be the original Heineken brewery)
with original Delft tiles from 1887 too.

The barman served the different gins at our table whilst we also tasted the savoury snacks.

One of the little tricks he did was almost overfill a glass with the gin and challenge you to drink it without spillage!!!!

I paid a bit extra and we got to take these little Delft pots home.

Mr B was very keen to try herring from one of the kiosks alongside the canals.

He thouroghly enjoyed it.....me?
I passed on that treat!.....It's not for me and it was only 10 in the morning and had only just had breakfast!!!! ROFL

The quirky side of Amsterdam

If you like independent shops....you will love Amsterdam!
Unlike some other cities is is jam packed full of small independent shops.
Here is a small selection of the ones I liked. :)

Yep it sells all things nautical :)

Lovely flower shops.

Great antique shops.

Oriental shops.

A shop that only sold enamel signs.

A spectacle museum.

Arty matchboxes.

Amsterdam buildings

This was the Amsterdam hotel we stayed in "Der Poort Van Cleeve"...a striking building...
....but goodness me such a small room...especially when Mr B is like 6ft 2!!! lol
Breakfasts were great but the restaurant for evening meals was not to our taste....big thumbs up for location though :)

Some of the beautiful buildings and close up architectural details we saw on our walks along the canals of Amsterdam.

We loved our daily wanderings :)
